Keero Birla

Keero Birla is a documentary producer / director with a broad range of work, from award winning documentary and Imax® films to factual/ lifestyle / reality television series. His latest project, feature documentary Tiger Tiger, directed by acclaimed American director George Butler and executive produced by Frank Marshall, filmed in the remote Sundarban jungles of India and Bangladesh, recently won the Warner Prize at the Environmental Film Festival, Washington DC.

As the former Head of Production at Primesco Intl, collaborating with the National Wildlife Federation, Imax Corporation, Discovery Channel and dozens of international art and science centers and museums, Keero forged a name in the large-format industry for delivering acclaimed family entertainment. Keero has written, produced and directed the Imax® short Flight Without Wings for the Dubai Imax Theatre, which celebrates the richest horse-racing competition in the world. Keero has led crews across the Mongolian desert and through the Himalayan foothills in the IMAX® documentaries Dinosaurs Alive 3D and India: Kingdom of the Tiger.

As a Director, Keero has excelled at working with non-actors and factual content to create 150+ hours of popular television, including the popular docusoap series Live to Dance and the real-estate series The Property Shop. He has written and directed five seasons of the Gemini-nominated food show Chuck’s Day Off with celebrity chef Chuck Hughes, as well as Chuck’s Week Off, a travel & cooking series shot in Mexico in addition to directing five seasons of the mouth-watering hit Eat St featuring Canadian TV personality James Cunningham.

More recently, Keero directed several episodes of CBC’s The Big Decision featuring famed Canadian entrepreneur Arlene Dickinson from Dragon’s Den, and Brave New Worlds with Stephen Hawking for Discovery.

Sandwiched in between the mouth-watering recipes are rock & roll reality segments that give the viewer insight behind the scenes of the city's hottest restaurant and into the life of one of the food world's rising stars. The end result is addictively delicious television.

Follow in the footsteps of Jim Corbett, the famed English hunter-naturalist, as he races to save an Indian village from the terror of a man-eating tiger. Along his journey he expresses his passion for tigers and explores the issues of tiger conservation. The film is also a historical epic depicting India from 1910 to the modern era. Starring critically acclaimed Indian actress Smriti Mishra and Christopher Heyerdahl.
